I have entered the Magalies Adventure (http://www.magaliesadventure.co.za/) which is on 14th, 15th and 16th August. I have entred with Sean Kristoffer as my partner. Sean has done loads of Mountain bike racing, including 3 x cape-epic's. The event is at Van Gaalen's Cheese Farm, Skeerpoort River, North West Province. It is a 3 stage event as follows:
Stage 1: 25km (night race)
So although it is not a Cape Epic, I'm sure Sean will be pushing me to my limits.
I have started swimming 3 times a weeks at the Gym just to build some upper body strength and also strengthen my shoulder. I broke my collar bone 4 years ago and it still gives me some pain. So far I am only doing about 40 x 25m lengths (1km) in half an hour, but hope to get to the stage where I can swim for 30 mins without stopping so much. At the moment I am resting quite a lot.
I am planning on using April and May to build a good solid base, then in June do a couple of events to get into race mode. July will be pure race training and then hope to be ready to fly in August.
One of the key things is weight, I am still weighing about 75kg and aim to drop to 70kg by June.
I got some cool pics back from the Sabie event, heres one of my favourites.
