I entered the 94.7 cycle challenge with my brother in law Andrew and we started from the WW group, 4 groups from the back. For those that don't know, the 94.7 Cycle Challenge is JHB's equivalent of the Cape Argus Cycle tour, and attract roughly 25,000 cyclists, from the pros to the beginners and everyone in between. It winds its way from Woodmead, into the City, then back out to the Lion Park and ends just past Kyalami back in Woodmead. I decided to ride it for fun with Andrew from the "WW" group and not start from the "D" group in which I had been seeded, so that we could both have fun and enjoy the race together. We finished the ride in 3hrs,22 mins with an average speed of 28km/h. We were happy with the time because we did it on our mountain bikes with knobbly tires and all. We passed so many people and ended up 18th and 19th of 276 riders in our group, our overall position was 6741 of 16960 cyclists. Check out the little video clip that Andrew made of the day.
